Setup an HTML email signature on your iPhone.

  1. Send Yourself an Email with Your Signature

Send yourself an email with your desired email signature. Obviously you will need a currently operational signature from another mail program on your computer.

If you don’t yet have an HTML signature, here is some example code to get you started.
(A separate post on how to do this will be coming soon)

  1. Copy Your Signature to the Clipboard

Tap and hold your finger on some part of the email body that is not a link. Drag the little knobs at the end to surround your signature as best as possible. When surrounded, tap “Copy”.IMG_5647

  2. Paste Your Copied Signature

Go Settings > Mail > Contacts > Calendars > Signatures. In here paste your signature for all email accounts, or for each one if you would prefer. Tap twice in the empty box and select “Paste” from the popup menu.

  3. Shake to Undo

Apple tries to “enhance” the signature when you paste it, causing it to become all messed up. Luckily, you can undo these “enhancements”. Shake your device and press “Undo Change Attributes”.

  4. Send email

This doesn’t work. As soon as I respring, the image disappears

What do you mean by respring?

Ok, forget my terminology. If you restart the phone or do anything really, this doesn’t work. It just shows the white box in the email and settings. I will personally pay you $100 if you can prove this works.

Unfortunately this does not work on all devices and it depends on the encoding of the image in the signature. I can easily do what you did in the video. Just following the steps you provided in this article do not work for every scenario.

How about I give you the typical image type a user is using and you show that it works. Then, I’ll be impressed.

Tut, you can’t start setting your terms and conditions of the bet afterwards! If you have some basic knowledge of html, or a pre-existing signature it is a simple case of copying and pasting. Make sure you have the text elements around the image selected, if you copy an image on its own with a link, only the link text will be copied. Hope that makes sense.. If you want to record what you are trying to do I will have a better idea of where you are going wrong.
